Dear Patriot Parents,

We are eager to have students and staff return to the hallways and classrooms of your USA Schools. We believe the best learning experience occurs when a dedicated teacher is working with a student to inspire and support their growth. We also recognize that student and staff safety must be our highest priority because a person who is scared or sick cannot achieve their highest potential. Over the last few weeks, our principals, support staff and teachers have been working toward the goal of implementing recommended health and safety measures and creating in-person instruction for our students on as many days as possible. After much planning and problem solving, we are excited to announce that our plan will provide every USA student in grades K-12 the opportunity to have in-person, full-day instruction every school day.

We will be here for every child and we understand that each student is different and families are unique. Those families that are not completely comfortable with our health and safety measures, or the health risk presented by the corona virus, will have the opportunity to enroll in a full virtual learning program. We are currently in the process of reviewing virtual learning platforms and plan to select a program later this month. We will release more information when specific program details are available.

We also anticipate the possible closing of school for extended periods during the school year. As we strive to prepare our students for their futures, we realize that our students deserve more than the distance learning model that was implemented in the spring. Our plan for in-person instruction will be supported with resources that provide appropriate rigor and challenge for our students along with improved communication to bring our teachers and parents together as partners for student achievement. This blended learning plan will be flexible enough to move quickly between in-person and remote learning.

We continue to work on many details for the return to school this fall and we need to know your thoughts and concerns. Please watch your email early next week for a parent survey to help us learn from you so we can build a better return-to-school plan together. Our kids deserve it.

Educationally Yours,

George Rierson,

Superintendent
