  • Behavior Improvement Plan

    Respect and Responsibility Target Area Goal:

    All students, K-12, will demonstrate respect for others and their environment. Students will be responsible for their behavior.

    Students are expected to follow these behavioral expectations at all times while at school or on school property.

    Behavioral Expectations:

    A. Respect Authority

    • Listen to authority
    • Follow directions promptly
    • Accept responsibility for behavior
    B. Respect the Rights of Others
    • Use appropriate voice and language
    • 2. Listen to the speaker
    • Respect the opinion and points of others
    • Refrain from harassment
    C. Respect Property
    • Respect the property of others
    • Respect your own property
    D. Act Responsibly
    • Complete homework assignments
    Consequences for Inappropriate Choices
    • 1. Warning
    • 2. One minute after class (discussion with teacher)
    • 3. Written behavior plan (with teacher, copy to parents)
    • 4. Phone call home (with teacher supervision)
    • 5. Meeting with principal
    • 6. In school suspension
    • 7. Meeting with parents and out of school suspension

    Severe Misbehavior
    • Any misbehavior that is deemed as severe will result in an immediate suspension.

    Levels of Inappropriate Behavior

    • Annoyances- ignore, remind, interaction
    • Minor disruptions.
    • Occasional misbehavior
      • whispering to another student
      • quietly running to get to class on time
      • forgetting materials once
    • Misbehavior- act with consequences
    • Continual minor disruptions
    • Disruptions to learning
      • forgetting materials often
      • yelling in the halls during clas
      • stalking while the teacher is talking
      • not completing homework assignments
        Severe Misbehavior-
    • Dangerous behavior
    • Immoral behavior
    • Illegal behavior
      • belligerence
      • purposeful swearing
      • weapons
      • major harrassment of others

    Roles

    All school personnel, along with parents and students, have equally important roles to play in creating and maintaining a positive environment at USA Elementary School.

    Teacher
    Follow consequences guidelines with students
    Present lesson on themes in classroom
    Chart student behaviors (form to be turned in weekly)

    Principal
    Collect teacher charts weekly
    Set up child study meetings
    Chart Severe Cause Problems (chronic behaviors)
    Communicate with teachers regarding student behavior in the classroom

    Student Behavior Committee
    Discuss school wide behavior concerns
    Develop rewards for good behavior
    Publish Character Newspaper
    Develop activities in conjunction with themes

    Students
    Follow behavioral expectations
    Model positive behavior to classmates

    Parents
    Support school on discipline issues
    Reinforce character traits at home
